Batik Cake (Kek Batik)
Assalamualaikum,
Today I will bring to you, the highly coveted "Kek Batik", which will surely make your friends and family ask for more, again and again. Batik cake, better known locally with its Malay name Kek Batik, is a very popular cake among Malaysian especially in East Malaysia. It is believed that this cake originated in Sarawak but it's just as big in its neighboring state, Sabah as well.
We just know that this cake is a must-have for many families in East Malaysia during Hari Raya celebrations. Batik cake gets its name from the batik-like pattern when sliced. The reason why this cake is so popular, aside from its indulgence flavor, is that is required. It just needs to chill in the refrigerator for a few hours to set. So now, let's we get start!
Bahan yg diperlukan | Ingredients
- 130 g biskut Marie | 130 g Marie biscuits (any brands&roughly broken into 4)
- 50 g kacang walnuts | 50g walnuts (roughly chopped) - optional
- 100 g coklat chips | 100 g dark chocolate chips
- 30 g serbuk koko | 30 g cocoa powder
- 50 g margarin cair | 50 g unsalted butter
- 100 g susu pekat | 100 g condensed milk
- 50 g gula kastor | 50 g caster sugar
- 2 butir telur | 2 fresh eggs, (lightly beaten)
- Cairkan coklat chips, serbuk koko, margarin, susu pekat dan gula kastor dalam kuali/saucepan di atas api yang sederhana kecil.
- Teruskan kacau campuran adunan coklat sampai cair dan rata. Kemudian tutup api dan biarkan sebentar.
- Pukul telur bersama campuran coklat menggunakan hand whisk sampai menjadi adunan yang pekat.
- Tambahkan biskut marie yang telah dihancurkan dan kacang walnuts(jika ada) ke dalam campuran coklat. Gaul menggunakan senduk kayu/spatula besar sampai rata.
- Seterusnya, letakkan campuran biskut marie de dalam loyang yang sudah dilapisi aluminium foil.
- Biskut marie harus diratakan dan tekan perlahan-lahan supaya permukaan di atas menjadi lebih cantik.
- Masukkan loyang ke dalam peti sejuk sekurang-kurangnya 5 jam atau dibiarkan semalaman.
- Potong kek yang sudah keras dan siap untuk dinikmati.
*** Kek boleh disimpan dalam wadah yang bertutup/air tight container lebih kurang 1 minggu di dalam peti sejuk.
